Day 11

Harrison.

Our last day in Paris. What a fantastic way to end this wonderful trip. I am completely pleased with it. Everything worked out very smoothly today. We woke up at a decent hour, went to perhaps the most famous museum in the world, and saw a movie. The Louvre was quite the spectacle overall. The paintings were incredible and of course, the Mona Lisa was really amazing. Since we got there so early there was not too many people at the museum. However, the temperature in the museum was absolutely ridiculous (hot). Cheryl did not mind that one bit of course. There was an extensive political and religious debate held during our tour of the Louvre. As usual, my superior logic demolished everyone else’s arguments. No surprises there. After the Louvre we walked around with the goal of finding some place to eat. We ended up eating at a restaurant called Unisex. Despite the strange name, the food was delicious, and expensive. I enjoyed my very first 30$ hamburger, sorry mom I can feel your disappointment in me as you read this. I believe it was well worth the price. Not only that, but as I enjoyed the overpriced meal I felt that it represented the way I want my life to be. Luxurious. This led me to a feeling of motivation to work hard now in order to achieve that life. Success! With the rest of the day ahead of us, we were not quite sure how we wanted to spend our last day. Half of us including myself decided to see a movie. Lily wanted to be a part of this but came to the harsh realization that there was no more money left in her account. She was forced to walk around with the other “less fortunate kids” who had spent all of their money as well. In her favor however, she received her own room in this hotel, so it kind of evens out. The movie was The Adjustment Bureau with Matt Damon. It was really good. French movie theaters are a lot different than those in the U.S. The screens are small and more like a skinny rectangle. It is weird. When the movie was over we met with the other group and began a three mile journey to dinner. At one point it began pouring rain which was so refreshing. David and I started to rain dance because it was so hot, and the rain felt good. We frolicked in the rain until our wonderful tour guide met us and led us to the restaurant. The food was nothing fantastic as usual, and once again everyone was disappointed with the quality of food that EF tours provides us with. We rode the subway, or as the people of France call it, the Metro back to our hotel to the last night of blogging. I will admit, I am going to miss blogging. More than that though I am going to miss the action packed days of traveling with the students of Arch Academy. It is always wild, always crazy, and always amazing. I consider myself blessed to have been a part of this experience. It truly does change my perspective on the world and my own life. From seeing Dachau to the Eiffel Tower, I am a changed young man. To anyone and everyone that had any part of making this trip possible for me; a thousand thanks. Without the support of you all I would have missed out on these amazing life experiences. I love you Mom and Dad, and the staff of Arch Academy that did not get to go on this trip. Congratulations Valerie on your wedding! I did not forget about you. Goodnight to all of my blog followers, the attention will be missed, hopefully next year I can be a part of another adventure.

Sean.

So I just wanna start off this blog stating that I’m on my meds so it’s going to be short. That being said, this morning was awesome!!! We went to the Louvre which was just mind blowing! Seeing the things I saw was like being in the Sistine Chapel all over again. That was pretty much the highlight of the day. Afterward we just walked around for like 6 hours and then ate lunch, walked, and ate dinner. So it wasn’t to great but it was, nonetheless, still a good day.

Jameson.

Today was the final day of the trip and I am ready to go home. Today was fun, tiring, and confusing. We went to see the Adjustment Bureau at a local theater, and we walked literally over three miles to our restaurant for an hour and a half. I am totally wiped out, but at least we got to go to the Louvre and see the Mona Lisa. I cant wait to get home I miss you Mom and Dad!

David.

Today is the last day of the trip and it is extremely sad.  We went to the Louvre and saw the Mona Lisa, and it isn’t as cool and famous as they say. It wasnt as great as it seems but the artwork was pretty amazing. I cant wait to see my family again!

Joe.

Today was a good day and it was our last day. My legs and whole body were saying I can’t wait to get home. We went to the Louvre which was cool. We got to see the Mona Lisa which was pretty cool. We got to visit Two car stores which were really cool. Today was tiring because we had to walk almost four miles. Mom and dad I can’t wait to talk to you all about this trip. See ya tomorrow.

Lily.

Hey everyone, today is our last day in Paris. We visited the Louvre which was drop dead gorgeous; the paintings, the sculptures, the Mona Lisa, and the gardens. After we visited the Louvre we walked what seemed for miles around town. Some of the kids went to see a movie and the others, including me walked about four miles to the Arch of Triumph, got ice cream, and we visited some car shops. I am sad it is our last day but I am ready to go home. Can’t wait, I miss you all.

Matt.

I had an awesome day we went to the Louvre we got to see the famous Mona Lisa painting. We also walked two miles and I walked around the town. I can’t wait till tomorrow when I get home it’s been a great trip. Thanks mom and dad for paying a lot of money.

Casey.

Today was an amazing day. We went to the Louvre and saw the works of Leonardo De Vinci and many other artists. The conversations were the best part of the trip through the Louvre. Talking about how De Vinci drew the faces of the Pope on the heads of other people, and carved it on the heads of the statues. How he drew the priests when he was angry at him, and his relations with everyone else. The Mona Lisa was the most amazing. Seeing the look of the face and the background was much more dramatic than seeing a copy of it. All of the people crowded around it, and the glass casing really illuminates the value of his paintings, his skill, and how important he was.

Jake.

Today we started by going to the Louvre. We saw the Mona Lisa and other cool paintings and sculptures. We then took a walk and some of us saw a movie. Thank you mom and dad for providing me with some extra money. It helped a lot. I also want to thank you for providing me with this experience. Thank you to Maddy for the nice comments. I love you guys. Thank you to Cheryl and Art for giving me this experience and providing me with help and support. And for letting me stay at this school because if I left in February then I wouldn’t be blessed with everything I have, such as this trip. Thank you to Stephanie and Ben for putting up with us and our crazy attitudes. Thank you to Julie for helping as well. I really appreciate it. Also, congrats Valerie.

Day 10

Jake.

Today we took a bus tour of Paris and saw the Arc De Triumph, some gardens, the Eiffel Tower (again), and Napoleon’s tomb. When we started walking, we went to Noter Dame in a church for Good Friday. Cheryl, Casey, and I went up and kissed the crown of thorns. We then went to a sketchy internet cafe to blog, but that went over like fart in church. We then went to eat super. After, we went back to the hotel.

David.

We went to the mostly beautiful churches that I have ever been. We also went to see the famous  Arch Di Triumph and it is a lot bigger in person, and it is amazing. We are planning to go to the Eiffel tower again and I am planning to get a picture with me in it for my dad. I am really stoked on this trip so far and I am sad and exited to get back home, because I am getting home sick and I miss you guys. The collection of gift for the family is really cool and you guys are going to love them. David.

Sean.

So today was the probably one of the best days so far! First we went to Napoleons Crypt which was awesome! The architecture just blew my mind! We then went around some other historical places which were also amazing. After a little meal we set off to Notre Dame which was just a mind freak! It was right up there with the Vatican! I couldn’t believe what it was like. I was just speechless! you just have to be there to understand it. The bad part of today is that my camera is broken so I couldn’t take any pictures nor will I be able to take anymore. I’m excited for tomorrow and I’m excited to see everyone at home soon!

Matt.

Today was a very fun day we went to napoleons grave and we went to Notre Dame church and they had the crown of thorns.

Casey.

This morning we only had to be ready by 9. First we took a tour of the city, and learned about Napoleon as well as saw a statue of him. We then went to the Notre Dame and saw the gargoyles. They also had the crown of thorns out because it was Good Friday. It was a pretty good day overall.

Joe.

Today was cool. We got to wake up later than usual which was better because we were more laid back. After we ate breakfast we took a 3 hour bus tour of Paris. We went to the Arch of Triumph and Notre Dame. Sean and Jameson were in their Morphsuits. On this trip I have learned a lot, but mainly more about Paris. I am looking forward to these last two days of Paris. I am having so much fun on this trip. All of us are very tired of walking for hours day by day. I can’t wait to get back home.

Jameson.

Today was pretty cool. Sean and I got to run around in our morph suits and see the Arch of Triumph and Notre Dame. We were on a 3 hour tour that was kind of boring but the rest of the day has been fun so far. I am on a french keyboard so I sound retarded

Lily.

Today we went on a two hour bus tour through out the city in Paris. I belive the tour guide was one of the best ones we had on the trip. We visited the Arch of Triumph, Notre Dame, and Napoleon’s Church, it was fun and I am sad we only have two days left, anyway I miss you all.

Day 9:

Jake.

Today we woke up early in the morning to get on a bus that took us to a train that took us to Paris. Dad, I’m pretty sure it’s one of the ones we were in when we went. We then went to lunch and had veal. Then we went to the Eiffel Tower and Napoleon’s military school. We also saw a haunted French opera house. Thank you parents for giving me some extra cash. I really appreciate it.

Casey.

Today I woke up at 4:20 to get on the bus. We took the train to Paris and arrived at noon. The first thing we did was check into the hotel. We then walked to the Paris Opera House and learned about the history of it. In the front, there was a man doing flips and stuff. (This ain’t Seaworld, this is’ real as it gets.) After that, we traveled to the Eiffel Tower and heard about this history of it. I’m having an awesome time. I had taken out a lot of money, so it wasn’t a big problem. I’ll have enough for the whole trip. Also, I have to add that I’ve been helping Stephanie by taking pictures with her in them for her mother.

Matt.

Today we woke up very early in the morning and went in a bus to the train station. In a nice resturaunt at the train station I threw up  and I couldn’t make it the bathroom so i threw up on the floor. After we went on the four hour train ride we went to the hotel in a bus. After that we went and saw the Eiffel Tower it was a darker color than I thought it would be.

Joe.

First let me start out with last night. Five of us were sneaking down to the river. Then we crossed the bridge and climbed a challenging hill. After that we went down and headed back to the river. 3 of us crossed the icy water and it felt like my feet were going to fall off. After that we went on a big adventure along the river. Today was an amazing day. We woke up at 4:10 in the morning and we had to leave the hotel at 4:30. We were all super tired and had to cram in a bus for one and a half hours. So later on in the day we arrived in Paris after a four hour train ride. When we got here I was really excited. The highlight of my day was definitely the Eiffel Tower. It was a lot taller than I thought it would be. I thought that it was just amazing being there. After we went to the tower we went to the Opera house. We did not go inside however. So that was my day. I’m taking care of my money and found out I have enough cash to last me through Sunday. Thanks mom and dad for this amazing trip.

Lily.

Bonjur everyone, we are finally in Paris. We arrived at the hotel around noon walked around the city, went on a lot of subways, visited the Eiffle Tower and the Opera house. Did you know the Opera House in Paris was based off of the play “The Phantom of the Opera. The town has modernized a bit since the last time I was here  but it still remains truly beautiful. We went to dinner and had three different kinds of pizzas instead of having a tomato base for the sauce they used sour cream it had an acquired taste to it but it was sure yummy! I am having fun and I miss you all, hope all is well. I miss you Kayla, Biscuit, and Dolly and Mom and Dad every time I see a dog I get so sad. Anyway we all woke up at three and I am wiped out good night.

David.

The Eiffel tower is  taller and beautiful in person and it is an experience that I will never forget. It was well worth the four hour train ride with lots of stops and and being woken up to early in the morning. I now have enough money to last the rest of the trip and I have already bought gifts for everyone at home. I miss the dogs so much, and also you guys, David.

Sean.

So I wanna start this off with what I did last night again. We went on another adventure and I slid down a hill on my butt. This hill was all grass and about 300 feet long. I’m not kidding. I slid all the way down without stopping. It was crazy and pretty scary. In fact, I pretty much ruined your pants Patrick so sorry about that. We then crossed a river of below freezing water and then walked along the river with out shoes. There was a downside to this adventure however. Due to all the Fiber One bars that I ate that day, 16 to be exact, I ended up pooping my pants when I tried jumping onto a rock and trying to fart at the same time. It was hilarious! Other than that it was a lot of fun except all the stinging nettle. Now today, we woke up at 4:20 a.m. I was very disappointed with myself because I didn’t wake up everyone in my room on time and other people broke into my room to wake us up. it was embarrassing cause everyone saw me in my onesy. After a 4 hour train ride we arrived in Paris and visited the Eiffel Tower. It was the shit! It took a while for the feeling to kick in but when it did it was pretty intense! So it was a pretty laid back day and I’m feeling pretty obligated to go morphing tomorrow at the tower so I guess that’s what I’ll be doing tomorrow. Peace yall!

Day 8

Harrison.

Ok so I would like to begin by apologizing for not blogging last night. I was too busy sneaking onto private property, trudging down to a rapid flowing river, and scaling a semi-dry waterfall. I am going to need to wash my clothes at some point on this trip. Mom, I regret not taking you up on your suggestion to bring a plastic bag for laundry. Yesterday was a fairly uneventful day. Well, as uneventful as a day could be in Germany/Austria/Liechtenstein/Switzerland. The bus ride was not very exciting for me because I despise long car rides. The scenery as we traveled however, was absolutely amazing. Switzerland is just mountains and valleys. HUGE mountains and valleys. I got some pretty good pictures on the drive. The crystal museum was awesome too. I did not realize how famous it was, until after doing some shopping in Switzerland I noticed that a lot of jewelry claimed to have been from that crystal museum. I picked up some nice earrings from there. My money has officially run out on this trip. In my defense, I have only been buying food with the exception of a jacket (to weather the 30-40 degree temperatures in Germany), some glasses, and the earrings. I will admit that I did pick up some swiss chocolate as well. But mom, if you want any you are going to need to refill my account so keep that in mind. Today was pretty cool. I noticed that in Switzerland the girls are extremely attractive. On average, they are much better than the girls in San Diego, and thats saying something. Without saying too much, Ben was the hit of the town. Dad you will be pretty excited to hear that we ate Cuban food in Switzerland. Overall that was a great experience because the food was good and the waitresses were hot. There was even a picture of Che in the restaurant. We had seven whole hours to wander around the streets of Lucerne. Sean had his Morphsuit on, but I just did not feel that I could muster up the courage to put mine on. I’ll admit that. There was another insane adventure with Ben tonight. Once again we hiked through people’s yards, property lines be damned, and crossed an ice cold river. Then, we basically scaled a steep hill about 200 feet. There are some amazing pictures that Ben took with his phone. Today was an amazing day. I am really excited for Paris though, because it is Paris, and I am hoping to find true love there. Do not fret mom and dad, I will be smart this time. French grandchildren anyone? Haha just kidding. Thank you mom and dad for refilling my account. I appreciate the support on this trip, and although I am reluctant to admit it, it means a lot to me that you haven’t kicked me out of the house and given up on me! Anyways, I am going to bed. 4 am wake up tomorrow. Yay!

Matt.

Tell Zoe that I am going to hug her when I get back and also I’m very mad at her. Also may blog got deleted yesterday, sorry for the inconvenience. Today was a beautiful day at the Alps and the stores had a lot of cool stuff. I bought some chocolate and a laser pointer for dad I had a good day today.

Casey.

Before I forget, I had taken 150 euro out of the bank. It should last me through Paris. Today we went to a park and played chess. I beat both Matt and Jake. Through the tour company, we vouchers for complimentary collectors spoons. Waking up in the morning to a view of the Swiss Alps has been a treat. We all took a walk along the road and got to see some of the farm animals. Last night Ben, Jake, Harrison, Sean, Joey and I went for an adventure out in the field. We walked through a field down by a stream. About 15 or 20 meters upstream, we decided to get back up by climbing up a dry waterfall. It was covered with mud and leaves. Climbing up it was a hassle, and most of us slid down at least about half way. By the time we got back to the hotel we were all covered in mud. Maybe I can find a plastic bag or something to keep the dirty clothes in. Having a great time.

Lily.

Hey everyone, today was actually a pretty active day. We took a 30 min. bus ride to the center of Switzerland and wondered around the town we went to different shops to by gifts and eat. Finding a restaurant was hard but the food was good, we also walked along the bridge on the river there were more swans there than I ever seen in my life. Mom thanks for the money I really appreciate it. I miss you all hope all is having fun -Love: Lily

Jameson,

Today was just weird and tiring and super freakin’ awesome all at the same time. I was stabbed by my belt and literally bled all day. At least I beat Sean at chess in the park (on a huge chessboard) and eat some really good Swiss chocolate. I am looking forward to waking up at three thirty tomorrow (not), and I am going to miss Lucerne, which is easily the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. All I know is that I am coming back to Switzerland if not living here at some point in my life. Goodnight everyone!

Jake,

Today was really cool. We went to see a monument that was carved into the side of a giant wall. I got some sick pictures of it. Next, we had seven hours of free time. We started off by shopping in the main part of Lucerene, Switzerland. I got some Swiss chocolate. TSSFG (Mom). Then we played chess on a giant chess board in a park. I suffered a horrible defeat when I played Cassey. That kid has some serious skill. Then we went to eat. After I ate, David, Cassey, Jameson, and I went to a music shop where I got to play a really old guitar. I also played a beautiful sounding acoustic. Then we walked around and went back to the hotel. Tomorrow, we get to wake up at three in the morning and get on a train at four twenty. Peace out.

David.

Today was a crazy and exiting day, we went to Lucerene and it’s the most beautiful place that i have ever seen. I now contemplating to move there when I get older and live on a farm. my money account has run dry, because joey went overboard and spent 130 of my dollars and now I only have 50 to last the rest of the trip. I am now currently trying to sort it out but it would be nice if are parents talk. hope everyone is doing well, and i am really missing Simba, David.

Joe.

Today was a good day. We did a lot of walking today and I did some shopping. I spent all of my money today. We went to a park today where some of the kids played chess. It was a very exciting today. Tomorrow we are going to Paris which I am very excited for. I spent my money today and now I am screwed. Peace.

Sean.

So today was a great day! But before I get to today I want to talk about last night. A few of us went out and hopped some fences and went on an adventure through the forest. It was pitch black and we couldn’t see anything and we had to climb up a hill of very moist, soft soil. It was pretty extreme and a few of us had to take some adrenaline shots to finish making it up the hill figuratively, not literally. When we got back we looked like we just buried a bunch of dead bodies. So today, we walked around a lot and I did a fair amount of morphing. The best part is when we went to the park and played chess with these giant chess pieces. I played in my Morphsuit and did pretty good for not knowing what I was doing. We really didn’t do any sight seeing but the amount of fiber in my system really made the difference. The bus ride home was the best for me, once again thanks to the fiber.

Day 7:

Casey.

Today seemed like a long day. Right after eating breakfast, we got onto the bus and started on the long trip. About 3 hours into it, we stopped at the Swarovski  crystal museum. There were more crystals than empty space. We finished the 7 hour bus ride, and have now stopped in Switzerland in a small inn.

Jake.

I would like to say both for the record and for other people who are reading our blog, that I slept in but I didn’t make us forty-five minutes late like some other kids. But today, we spent seven hours on a bus. We stopped at a crystal museum and that was really sick. The craftsmanship was awesome. That was our day pretty much. I would also like to say that Cheryl, our teacher, is a wonderful, inspirational, and awesome ROLE MODEL. She is really teaching me how to survive in the real world and I think I will do great out there. Well, I have to take my medication now. But I might be over-medicated according to some people who think they know what their talking about but they really know nothing and have nothing better to do than to eavesdrop on other people’s conversations. Haters.

David.

Today was an interesting day and all we did was ride in the bus all day. Austria has got to be the most beautiful place in the world and i am  really exited for Paris. i don’t know how much money is left in my account but it will last the rest of the trip. thank you so much, David.

Joe.

Today was a good day. We did a lot of things. We rode on a bus for about 7 hours which really sucked. We got at least forty-five minute breaks in between. We went to a crystal factory. We went through Austria which was beautiful and now we are in Switzerland. I am really looking forward to going to Paris and seeing the Eiffel Tower. Mom if you blog me back please do me a favor and tell me how much money is on my card. If you think I need more money add some. See ya soon. Peace.

Jameson.

Well, today was borderline mentally challenged like the special olympics. We sat on a bus for the ENTIRE day. We went through Austria which was just amazing, and went to the Swarovski gift shop while we were there. Austria was literally the most beautiful place I have ever seen

Sean.

So today we didn’t do anything but sit on a bus all day long. That is it. However, our hotel is amazing and the scenery is incredible. One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to; Up there with Canyon Lands National Park and the Sierra Nevada Mountains. What’s also great is the window from my bathroom. There is a great view of the countryside while you take care of business. I know I’m only speaking of the scenery and my hotel bathroom but this is all that has happened. I’ve also started feeling a lot better in the past few hours. If I could I would stay where I am forever… and ever

Day 6: Munich, Olympic Stadium, BMW Factory

Harrison.

What an eventful day today turned out to be. With five hours of free time in Munich, we were not exactly sure what to do. But Ben suggested taking the subway to the Olympic Stadium and checking it out. It was cool, but it cost 2 Euro to get in and the track was under construction. Of course the lady at the desk failed to mention this before having us pay the fee. Great! As an added bonus, we got to check out the BMW factory. That was seriously awesome. I discovered that they make bicycles. They are really nice and quite expensive. I am sure they only sell the bikes in Europe though, seeing as no one in America uses them for transportation. I also noticed how much nicer the Munich subway was than the one in New York. It is clean, perfectly air conditioned, and decorated colorfully. All in all, today was a definite success. I am still having an amazing trip and not spending too much money. Love you mom and dad!

Matt

I had a very good day today.  I went a really good trampoline and I went up 300 steps  to a bell tower at a church.    We also went to the BMW headquarters and saw new cars that have not been on the market yet.  Also in the market I tried to get a deal on gifts for mom and dad but the girl added a dollar more so I said no.

David

Today was a very interesting day because of all the driving, again, and that we had six hours of free time to look at trinkets and local food.  The place were ate lunch was half italian and half german food, and was the best meal that I had have so far. For dinner we went down to the local pub and ate some wiener schnitzel or bratwurst, served with a side of mashed potatoes. I hope everyone is doing well at home, David. P.S. Don’t read our blog you other creepy school! New York… we all see you. ;)

Casey

This morning we went straight to an awesome castle. The courtyard was large and luxurious, full of grass and gravel, with a large stream running beside it. In the city square of Munich, we had Italian food. A few of us walked up 320 steps to the top of one of the clock towers. It was a much better view of the city than just walking around it. The whole city was amazing, and I had a great time.

Joe

Today was a good day. We did a lot of activities. We went to see a beautiful castle and we took a bus tour of Munich. The breakfast was not great at the hotel but lunch was fine. I had penne pasta and ice cream. After we ate lunch a few of us climbed up church tower which had 320 steps. David and I were the first ones to the top. We spent only a few minutes up their and then we went down together. We also did some shopping today and then we had dinner. For dinner we had mashed potatoes, sausage, and sourkraut. I am looking forward to going to Switzerland tomorrow where I can get my mom and dad something. Peace.

Jake.

Today was exhausting. I slept in and was beaten with pillows as a wake up call. We then took a bus tour of Munich. I fell asleep on the bus during the first part of the tour, but I woke up when we reached a beautiful castle. The grounds were really cool. When we got to Munich, we were given FIVE hours to walk around. We ate lunch for about an hour. I hate a sausage and fries and had some freaking awesome ice cream for desert. We then went to the Olympic Stadium where we saw the olympic pool and track. David and Jameson went hopping on a trampoline. We then went to the BMW factory. Then we went to a pub, had dinner, and went back to the hotel.

Sean.

So I’m SUPER sick today! It really sucks and kind of ruined my day. Other than that it was pretty cool though. We went somewhere where there were a bunch of clock towers and then took the subway to the Olympic stadium. It was really beautiful and massive. Way bigger than I thought it would be. After that we went to the BMW headquarters and I pretended to drive a police motorcycle. It was a lot cooler than I’m making it sound. Also, I’m the only guy in all of Europe who has long hair, wears shorts, and wears sandals. I’m hoping more people here will follow my ways but my expectations are low. Anyway, tomorrow is Switzerland and I cant wait for the ridiculously long bus ride I have ahead of me!

Jameson.

Today was a really tiring yet awesome day. We started the morning off at the Glockenspiel to hear the bells, followed by an amazing lunch at a local restaurant. Then we got to go to the Olympic stadium and see the Olympic aquatic center. After that, we went to the BMW headquarters and saw some really interesting technology (robots that moved freely through the building) and some sick cars. Munich is a cool city and I am excited for Switzerland tomorrow.

Lily.

Hey everyone, today we went on a two hour bus tour through the Munich in which during the day we visited a castle which had a beautiful garden and tons of dogs running around. After we wandered around the castle we had 6 hours to wander around. For the fist hour we had lunch, second to third we wandered around the farmers market, and the last few hours we visited the Olympic stadium and the BMW corporation center which was fun there were these two machine/ robot things running around on the floor we tried to figure out what they were but it was in german any way hope all is well miss you all.

Day 5: Nuremberg, Dachau, Munich

Joe

Today was a very cool day. First off we went to Nuremberg which really wasn’t that exciting. All we did was shopped and ate their. After that we went to Dachau. This was a very sad time for me to see. We went to the concentration camp that was in Dachau. I finally got to see what it was really like and what things looked like. I am really glad I got to find out more information about the Holocaust. When we were in the concentration camp it was very depressing and sad. I felt a lot of emotion there. So now we are in Munich and I am looking forward to another day of excitement.

Casey

Dachau was an amazing experience. Walking through the rooms of the concentration camp caused an incredible rush of emotion through me. The whole place was almost silent, except for the footsteps of the people, and the tour guides. Remember to floss and brush your teeth. :)

David.

Today was an extremely interesting day, there was a lot of car drives and when we got to our destination it was extremely sad and depressing. Dachau was a concentration camp back in the 1930′s and was a holding place for Jew’s during the Holocaust. This camp was very moving and most of are group was almost in tears, this was an extremely good experience and I am so thankful that I was able to go on this awesome trip. Thank mom and dad!

Jameson.

Today was definitely the best day of the trip so far. Nuremberg was pretty cool, but Dachau was one of the best experiences I have had in my entire life. It is nearly indescribable of how I felt walking through the crematoriums and the gas chamber at the concentration camp. I was speechless the entire time, I was literally walking where thousands of people died. Seeing the original structures from WWII was amazing, this was one of the first historic activities that I was really interested in and I cant say how grateful I am to have had this opportunity. Its going to be hard to top today this was the best day Ive had.

Sean.

So today was the best day so far. but before I talk about today I want to talk about what happened after I wrote last nights blog. So there I was, minding my own business (for real this time) when this kid with fake gauges from the other school walked into my room and asked if I smoked. I knew that it would not be a good idea to talk to him so I walked up to him and slammed the door in his face. Problem Solved… when Cheryl came out like a suicide bomber and started protecting us from the other school. She explained to them that we had very high IQ’s which, to be honest, embarrassed us a little bit as we listened through the door. She then went on, however, to say that we will cross lines very easily when taunted which made us feel a bit cooler. So all of the kids were frightened and there hasn’t been any problems since then. Now today we went to some market which was not all that cool but the architecture around it was outstanding! We then headed to Dachau where we visited the concentration camps. This was one of the most intense places that I’ve ever been to and a lot of emotions came with it. There is not really a way that I can explain what I saw. You just have to experience it for yourself. After that we went to a pub where we were served by some appropriate looking beer wenches and ate some some delicious food. That was the end of a great day and now I’m sick.

Harrison.

I had a wonderful time in Europe today. The sky was blue (more or less), and everyone was in a chipper mood. If the feud between Arch and the other school could be compared to the Cold War, which it frequently is, then last night was an example of nuclear fallout. The other school crossed the line, and Cheryl sent them running back over it and in the complete opposite direction. It was quite a spectacle. Ben compared Cheryl to a samurai. It was so hilarious. The next day I decided to sit as far forward on the bus as the societal norms set up by the trip would allow. It put me right against the barricade of parents sitting behind their kids to protect them from the likes of us. One brave parent decided to turn around and try to tell us to, “show some courtesy”, and went on to say that, “everyone else is wearing headphones, so why do you guys have to play your music out loud.” To this I responded, “If everyone on the bus is wearing headphones, then why does it matter if we play ours aloud?” My dazzling logic was obviously too much for him to comprehend and he turned around and shut up. Dachau was mind blowing. I was on the verge of tears. Mom, Dad, I was in shock, and I have a new respect for our ancestry.  The rest of the day was uneventful compared to Dachau. Anyways, I am being very frugal on this trip. I bought a jacket because it was so cold. Otherwise, all my money is being spent on food, which by the way is delicious. Thank you for everything mom and dad. I am having an amazing time. Miss all of you in San Diego. I love you Katie W. This trip would be that much better if you were here!

Jake

This has been an eventful two days. Last night Cheryl unleashed the crouching tiger by yelling at a kid who offered some of us cigarettes and assuming that people from California smoke and do drugs. Harrison and I walked down the hallway like bosses and protected the queen bee. Breakfast the next day was awkward especially because I was in line with the kid Cheryl yelled at. Today we traveled to Nuremberg and had lunch at yet another Italian restaurant. Then we traveled to Dachau. I figured out that pretty much our whole school would be sent to the camps had we been in Germany during the war. Also, it turns out, that the ashes of the Nazi’s victims are still on the ground so visitors are walking across the remains of the dead. So it goes. The camp was extremely moving. We then arrived in Munich and had diner at a pub. We then came back to the hotel and wrapped up the day with Matt running around the hotel with no pants on and Harrison reading aloud a note from Jamison’s girlfriend.

Matt

I had a good day.  I saw a lot of sites like churches and we went to Dachau.  When I left I felt very sad.  At Dachau their was a lot of historical sites like cremation room, and bunkers.  The day ended with a nice dinner at a good place.

Lily,

Today was a fun day it seems like my hyper side is coming out which is good. Today we left Prague and traveled to Nuremberg which was pretty similar to Prague but in an old fashioned way, there were booths shaped as cottages and there were a lot of old ruins. After we traveled to Nuremberg we went to Dachau, when we arrived I just went numb no feeling, depressed, and I didn’t know how to react I was sad. There were memorials around the concentration camp which were dedicated to those who perished and those to remember it was really sweet. After we went to Dachau we arrived back in Munich where we went to a pub for dinner the food was surprisingly good. Well after five hours of bus riding and touring we are finally at a hotel and I am ready to rest. I miss you all!

Day 4: Prague

Jameson.

Today we walked around Prague and saw a castle and a massive church, it was actually really cool. We also went shopping around at some local shops and stands and ate some pretty good food, but we got lost at the end of the day so it was kind of annoying. Despite the small problems, today was really awesome and Im glad that i got to see so many historic buildings, especially Kafka’s house.

Casey.

Today we saw a Catholic church located in a castle with incredibly intense stained glass. Sean wore his morph suit the whole day, and  entertained a lot of people.

Joe

So my day was pretty good. Today we went well because we visited a really cool castle. The inside of it was really big. Sean wore his Morphsuit which was really funny. people were staring at us a lot and Sean got a lot of pictures with other people. Today we got lost from the other group when we were at the castle. We waited for them for a really long time. Eventually they came and picked us up in the bus. We did go shopping today and I ate some good food. Tomorrow I am looking forward to Nurenburg, Dachau, and Munich. I am happy and I am having a lot of fun.

David.

Hi everyone today was a very good day except for getting lost and the other school being stupid and separating themselves from are school. I got a little trinket for Marc and i think that he will really like it. Finally I got my money and I know can get lunch without mooching and am having a really good time. Thanks so much, David.

Lily.

Prague is beautiful; the scenery, the houses, and old ruins. Today we went on a tour through the city of Prague, we saw churches, castles, and Kafka’s house which was amazing considering we read Metamorphosis. There was even a book store that was dedicated to him. The food was the same and I am having more fun than ever! Hope all are well at home and I miss you all!

Matt.

I had fun today and Sean wore his morph suit. I ate some really really good fries at a Prague restaurant. I liked the big castle we went to also. I am having a lot of fun.

Sean.

So today as the best day so far. We went to prague and did a lot of shopping. Also, today was the first day I wore my morphsuit and I got pictures with well over 75 people. It was the craziest time I’v ever had in my morphsuit. Some of us went on a carriage ride through the city which was pretty cool… however, I ran behind the buggy the whole time. I wasn’t too upset about having to run through the city though because the city was beautiful and I havent have had anytime to exercise. After all that we went to a massive castle which was like the size of a small city. It was pretty intense! I also got plenty of pictures there I made one of the guards laugh which are TOTALLY not allowed to laugh. That’s where the fun ended though. Someone didn’t save the emergency numbers to their phones so we were stranded in the middle of nowhere for about two hours. So today was awesome and I’m pretty psyched for tomorrow.

P.S. Patrick, I got your mug thing that you wanted. It’s pretty bitchin’ and it will go well with your gnome costume.

Harrison.

I love my life today. Prague was really amazing. It kind of reminded me of Italy in a way, which is nice because I really liked Italy. Things are getting quite out of hand with the other school in our tour group at this point. In the end, we know that the kids of Arch Academy are more mature than they are, we just have a funny way of showing it. I got to go into a bookstore in honor of Franz Kafka, and I went into his old house. That was cool because in book club we are reading his stories. There was hardly any bus riding today so most of the time was spent walking around the cities. We went to a huge castle in Prague that had some intense stained glass windows. I love thinking about all the history that is held within that castle and the other places. I am loving the trip so far, and I cannot wait to experience the rest of this spectacular adventure.

Jake.

Today we went to Prague. It was sick. We walked through the center of Prague and took a carriage ride through the cobblestone streets. Then we went to a church and a Franz Kafka bookstore. We then had lunch. After lunch, we went to Franz Kafka’s house. After that, we drove to a castle that was really cool. There was an enormous church with awesome architecture. Lily then continued to commit sin number two by lighting a candle when she wasn’t even Catholic. She also committed sin number three by sneaking past security without a ticket and stealing money from the Catholic Church. The rest of the time we just checked out the castle. That was our day pretty much.

Day 3: Through Dresden to Prague

Jameson.

Today I suffered trauma to my left testicle. I could barely walk for the rest of the day. Dresden was absolutely fabulous, and the food really tickled my fancy. We were able to frolic through a huge field and see some cool cathedrals and churches. We were on the bus for way too long, and there is some definite friction between us and the other school. On the bus, one of the parents yelled at me to “show some respect” however they are the ones who need to show some respect. I am having oodles of fun.

David.

Hi! The trip is going swimmingly. We had a lot of not so fantastic food, and I broke Sean’s speakers. Sorry. There was some awesome sightseeing, and lots of churches and towers. Finally I have all my money in the account (thanks mom and dad) and am ready to legitimately travel. Thanks for everything, D-West

Matt.

Hello everyone. I am doing well. We got to see a lot of beautiful sights today, such as Dresden, geese, and a lot of cool churches. We went out to eat lunch, and I ordered some delicious pizza. Now we are at the hotel, I think it is really nice. I am looking forward to the rest of the trip. Tell Zoe that I miss her and I love all of you.

Lily.

So since falling over everything has not come to an end, it either consists of curbs, busses, or sweatshirt sleeves. We left Berlin to go to Prague on a long bus ride. We traveled through Dresden and made it to Prague. It was pretty in Dresden. The fields were green, and the houses were all painted in bright colors; they looked like cottages. The ride from Berlin to Prague was four and a half hours long. It is official: I am over any transportation other than walking. Anyway, I am having fun and I hope all is well at home. I miss you all.

Sean.

So today was the most interesting day as far as sightseeing goes. The bus however, really sucked. We got to go on the Autobahn, but our bus drove very slow because our driver was a lame dude. Ballthumping is officially over, due to a treaty that I orchestrated with the rest of the group, but Jameson is still suffering. We are in a nice hotel and I cannot wait for tomorrow. Oh, and I ate dog food for dinner. Hi everyone.

Casey.

Today was a pretty fun day. We traveled to Prague, and a lot of the time was spent on the bus, but we had a cool tour guide talking to us. I would have liked to walk around and look at things more closely, but it was fun anyways. We saw some geese that were very interesting, and surprisingly we could get close to them without them trying to attack us. Stay classy San Diego!

Joey.

Today was a good and long day. We spent at least five hours on a bus touring Germany and going different places. We went into a few cities and we ended up in Dresden. Today we ate some good food and we also had a lot of fun on the bus. I am looking forward to tomorrow and the rest of the trip.

Harrison.

Soooo. We had a long day of bus riding today which was not very fun at all. I realized that touring cities on a bus is nowhere near as fun as walking around them. Dresden was cool because I read the book Slaughterhouse Five, and it talked about Dresden and the destruction caused by American fire bombing. We did not get to actually see the part of the city that was bombed. After we left Dresden, we got on the bus for another two hours of driving. I was feeling miserable for a while, but then I took some Dramamine and I felt better. We got to Prague and had some weird dinner that I actually liked. Now we are cozy in our hotel, but we just realized that our T.V. doesn’t work.

Jake.

Today was sick. We took a two and a half hour bus ride to Dresden. As we approached Dresden on the bus, we were all excited about getting off of the bus. But, our hopes and dreams were destroyed and we stayed on the cramped bus and took a bus tour. I was somewhat enjoying myself, until the wonderful book Slaughterhouse 5 became relevant. I talked to our tour guide about the bombing of Dresden. I learned some new stuff. When the bus tour ended, we were allowed to walk around Dresden. In the beginning of our free time, we ran into some criminally insane homicidal geese that were about to kill little Matt. But he escaped. We then had lunch and went back to the bus, again. We then began to go to Prague. But we ended up staying in the ghetto of Prague. Also, we recently realized that the Italians do in fact have nuts and they like to punch each other in the nuts. Those damn Italians.

Day 2: Ball Thumping in Berlin

Harrison.

Berlin is truly an amazing city. It is very left-wing, liberal city, which is pretty awesome in my opinion. We took a bus around the city and saw some interesting looking buildings. The government buildings all looked so weird, and were mostly made of glass. There were a lot of glass buildings. There was also a ton of graffiti. We were originally supposed to go to Checkpoint Charlie, which is a point in the Berlin Wall where non-germans would cross the wall, but decided not too once everyones meds wore off. I am very happy about this choice because I was tired and cold. Anyways, I am having a lot of fun looking around the city and experiencing some authentic German culture. Oh by the way, our tour guide is very left wing, and he likes Bill Maher.

Jameson.

Today was just a completely epic/awesome/crazy ball smashin’ day. I turned 17 today so I got to experience endless hits to the testicles and won’t be able to have kids. Despite this, we ran around Berlin and saw a lot of cool historical buildings. At the end of the day when everyone’s meds wore off, we went completely insane and ran laps around the train station with stephanie failing to control us. Overall I am having a great time. Thank you Mom and Dad for this amazing opportunity.

David.

Hello everyone that is listening, today was a interesting day and the tour guide messed up and screwed us over. My card is still being rejected at every store that I go to, and I don’t have any more money. In the big picture this is going to be a great trip I just hope I can get some moneys to buy souvenirs. Thank you so much for sending me on this trip.

Lily.

Today we visited parts of the Berlin Wall, but I was disappointed that they repainted it, because it defeats the purpose of the actual architecture. We have also visited a memorial based on thousands of Jews that died in the Holocaust, each brick we saw represented them. There was also a museum underneath the memorial that described what the Jews went through. It really touched me. Then we tried to find our way to dinner, at which point it began to downpour torrentially, so we decided to back to the hotel. I am having a lot of fun, and I miss you all at home.

Matt.

Hi! I am having a good time in Berlin. My trip is going really well. We went to a lot of memorial places and a museum about the Holocaust. We were also going to go to Checkpoint Charlie, but we did not because everyone decided that they did not want to. Thank for sending me on this awe inspiring trip.

Joey.

Hi! I am having a good time in Berlin. Today we went to a museum, which was very interesting. I learned a lot about WWII and the Holocaust. It was interesting to me because I did not know much about it before. We walked around and ate some good food. I am looking forward to tomorrow, and cannot wait for the rest of the trip.

Casey.

Today was a brilliant day. We saw out first street merchant. They were selling hazmat masks. Then we saw parliament buildings. Also, we saw the hotel that Michael Jackson dangled his baby out the window of. There was a Catholic church with beautiful bronze statues and there was an orchestra inside. Now we are off to dinner and more adventure.

Jake.

We began the day with a bus tour of the city. It was interesting, and I took some cool pictures of Berlin. I showed the Germans my photography skills Maddy. Then we saw a really cool Holocaust memorial and museum. That was some heavy stuff in there. Cheryl, Casey, and I saw a beautiful Catholic Church; I could tell it was Catholic because we needed to pay to get in. We had a huge Charlie Foxtrot over supper. And I ended the night by relaxing in my room.

Sean.

So today we lolly gagged and went on really long bus tour with a gnarly tour guide who had a very colorful vocabulary. After that we walked around for 5 hours and visited the Jews in a cemetery. It was pretty intense. We also stopped at Balzac Coffee so that was pretty funny. Oh and for a fun fact, we learned that prostitution is 100% legal here in Berlin. To sum everything up, today was a pretty laid back day that involved a lot of laughing and nut punches.

Day 1: Landing in Berlin

Harrison.

Today has been an eventful day, full of traveling and amazingness. The first flight to Chicago was not too bad, but the second flight really took a lot out of me. It was hard to keep myself calm and entertained for the whole nine hours of flying. I sat next to Jameson and the guy next to him was getting really pissed off at us. He was encroaching on Jameson’s space a lot, and it was making Jameson feel like a altar boy. When we arrived in Munich, our flight was canceled and we had to wait two hours at the Munich airport. It was at this point when I realized that I had no money in my debit account. My parents received a nice 4am wake up call because of that. Anyways, were now safe and sound in the hotel in Berlin. Dinner was good and I am looking forward to tomorrow when we can see see the city. Hope all is well in San Diego.

Lily.

Hello from Germany, today was pretty eventful, form long plane flights, to slipping on my sweat shirt during the terminal, I am definitely over plane flights. Berlin is pretty, especially their old architecture. The food is better than Greece and Italy that is for sure. Tomorrow is going to be fun. Good night everyone I miss you already.

Jake.

Today was kind of a nightmare. I was forced to go through a body scanner and expose myself to the TSA Agents of San Diego. I still can’t get over that. The second flight to Munich was horrible. I tried to sleep, but some of my peers (David and Harrison) kept me awake. The rest of the day was fine. Goodnight.

Sean Hall.

So today was extremely boring!!! We sat on three planes that were never ending! And the worst part was my peers wouldn’t allow me to sleep because they threw moist towelettes at me the entire time. So I’m extremely tired and a little grumpy. On the bright side, I have my own room and I’m in charge of two students for the next two weeks. I’m very happy about being here and it’s finally starting to set in. I hit the road last night and I decided I’m never coming back.

Matt.

Today was a very long day with a bunch of boring plane flights and I could not get any sleep and the TV was very low quality. After I got out of the plane I had a really good time; I ate some positively scrumptious meat. Thank you for sending us here.

Casey.

Today was an interesting day. The plane rides were tedious, but I feel like it was already worth it. Every building was amazing. Everyone has been very nice, and greeted me enthusiastically. I’m incredibly tired, but am looking forward to tomorrow.

Joey.

Today was a very interesting day. The planes rides were definitely the worst part. When we got to Germany I was so relieved. I was so excited to see all of the buildings and landmarks. I had some good meals today and I am looking forward to tomorrow. Thanks mom and dad for letting me go on this trip.

Jameson.

Aside from the extremely boring bits, the flights were fun, especially when we flew from Chicago to Munich. I sat next to Harrison. This weird German priest was fondling me for 6 out of the 8 hours. Oh and we were blasting mad beats at full volumes in this guys face. The rest was loads and loads fun. Thank you mommy and pappy I hope you’re having a fun time in LA!

David.

Today was a very fun day except for the boring flights and bad seating arrangements. Thank you so much for sending me on the trip mom and dad, I love you.P.S. I still do not know if my card is working, but I will check in the morning. Oodles of love ;)

  3. Christine - Jake's mom

    Hey Guys!
Sounds like everything came off just as we expected. Nobody liked the 9 hour plane ride and apparantly the other passengers didn’t exactly “get” you guys. Oh well, to know you is to love you. I hope everyone gets a good night’s sleep and has a brilliant full day tomorrow. Be good to each other, take lots of pictures, and remember, Jake, mustard from Germany, chocolate from Switzerland (or a Rolex), and lavender honey from
France, mm’kay?…I mean, why do you think we gave you all that money?
Bye. Love you. Miss you already.

  4. Aaron.

I know flights are boring, but the boring part pays off in the end of the flight, if i said it correctly, besides, every trip has an extremely fun part evry time, i figured that out the first time i was on a trip. try to make the fun of the next day if you can.

  5. Hi David,

It’s great to hear you’re finally in Europe! I’ll check again with our bank, but its possible that the ATM card is only compatible with certain machines or banks. We could try to wire you money if I knew your exact itinerary in the next few days, and nearby bank contact info. Talk with Cheryl and see what she thinks. Other than that, you can beg, borrow or steal – wait a second – did you bring your sluice? :) Let us know and make sure to get in a bunch of pictures!
    Love, Dad and Mom

  6. i take it that the plane wasn’t the best part of your journey. as some of you may know i am departing from san diego to go on a jaunt to new york city. although i will be 5 more hours closer to where you are, i will still be missing you. i will be missing jake that is… =) anyway jake don’t forget to show off your photography skills to the Germans! =) haben eine wunderbare Zeit Ich liebe dich sehr! 8. Christine - Jake's mom

I thought I’d be able to contain myself, but I am SO JEALOUS!!! The trip just on day two sounds amazing. I can’t wait to see pictures and videos and hear all the stories. Have fun and be safe…SEAN…prostitution my be legal but it ain’t CLEAN. And Jake, I hope you sent up a prayer for all of us in the church you visited, even if it was just a quickie! Love you all, especially Jake.

  9. Hi David:
It sounds like you are having fun and getting used to travel. Sometimes, it does not go as planned …..ATM cards don’t work, etc.! Anyway, thanks to Joey’s mom, you have money!! We gave her $500 to put on Joey’s account so he can get you money. Yeah!!! So, no need to call me at 4:00am or 6:00am and tell us you are not going to eat! Marc and I had fun at Disneyland, but we missed you and dad. We miss you. Love, MOM

  10. the second day is really awesome, like i said before, make the fun of it, whatever comes up, try to make it fun, i hope you have fun the next day, more then the 14th

  11. Jameson, I’m glad your having fun. Happy belated birthday, bet it was pretty cool turning 17 in Germany. Please be careful with your private parts, you may need them someday. Have a great time, we miss you!

    Dad

  12. Hi Jameson,

I miss you so much!I hope you had lots of fun on your birthday and that you didn’t damage yourself too much ;) Keep having fun and enjoying Europe. I can’t wait to see you when you get home <3

    Love,
    Paulina

P.S. My mom say hi and that she misses you. :)

  13. christine israel

Jameson (and all you other ball-bashing, nut-busting, junk-jamming guys) here’s just a tip for you…I have a friend who actually LOST HIS LEFT NUT engaging in such shenanigans! I kid you not. Just something to think about.

Lily, I love reading your posts. I like hearing from the female perspective, that is, descriptions of the beautiful scenery. The guys write about farting, fighting, and criminally insane homicidal geese. I look forward to your notes. :o )

  14. Hi Lily!! I finally gained access to a computer so I could write! We’re in Bend now. The house is great, but it is cold and a little rainy – maybe similar to where you guys are! I’m glad that you are all having fun, but sorry that there is so much bus time. Personally, I think buses are the pits, but you need to have a sense of humor about it and have fun with it. You guys are seeing such amazingly historic sites! Too bad the food is icky, but it sounds like you had the right idea with pizza – it’s probably hard to mess that up too much. We are in Bend till Sunday night, then back to Encinitas. Miss you! XOX, Mom

  15. Well, Lily, in typical fashion everyone is recounting your numerous sins, but you failed to mention even one! Might need to move past the religious thing. Don’t want to continue accidental disrespect. It sounds like today was a great day; lots of interesting stuff to see, lots of walking and less time on the bus with the German Club! I’ll be really interested to hear how the next few days go and what you all think about what you see. We have lots of deer at our house at the moment. Also, lots of Spring baby horses, lambs, etc in the neighborhood. Pretty cool. Love ya and keep having fun! Mom

  16. christine israel

This trip sounds so amazing. You are all very lucky. As for the other school, just think, of all the things they are seeing on the trip, you know that it YOU guys they’re going to be talking about back home. I loved Harrison’s comment about Arch students being much more mature, they just have a funny way of showing it. HAHA. And Lily, don’t you worry about “sinning.” What all the good Catholics and Christians on the trip probably are “forgetting” to tell you is that we wouldn’t be anywhere without forgiveness, so I’m sure you’ll be just fine…Jake, how come all the other kids are saying “thank you” to their parents and that they love them and miss them??? What gives??? What am I, chopped liver?? Sheesh!

  17. hi. jake. i am glad that, that kid got it from Cheryl. oh and guess what jake! im in Neeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwww Yorrrrrrrrrrkkkkk! yea it’s super windy i must say the plane ride was scary! =( but my view from our hotel is cool. dad is lounging on his butt and i am on the computer waiting till he says “lets doooooooo something” i love you and im glad you are having a good time.

  18. Hi Lily! Good to hear about all of the kids reaction to Dachau – I am sure that the experience was very powerful. Dachau is a reminder of how inhumane we can be as humans, hopefully if more people see the terrible results it will never be repeated. It also sounds like despite the war with the other school, everyone is enjoying the trip. We are spending 3 1/2 hours in the Portland airport because the layovers going back to SD are really, really long. It’s a very nice airport, but……not that nice. By the way, Dad wants you to know that we went for a walk in Shevlin Park this morning and did not see any mountain lions…. Hope you continue to enjoy the trip and that the tension with “the others” are diffused for a while. Love, Mom and Dad

  19. SEAN!
soooo i finally figured out where the hell to go to read these blogs instead of the parents comments. you are just plain silly in some of the things you post especially with the two other boys, i think harrison and jameson?? idk but you guys definitely made me laugh out loud. anyways…still SUPER jealous that you’re there without me & living it up. you better keep your eyes open for lots and lots of gifts for me ;) be safe, tty soon.
    love you <3
your FAVORITE cousin ever – Sarah :D

  20. Hi Matt,
Could you start writing more about your trip, Jake has been filling us with news more than you.
We wonder what happened with the geese. We all miss you. Today was palm Sunday.
    Mark is coming tomorrow.
    Best.
    Mom and Dad

  21. Wow… prostitutes, beer wenches, homicidal geese, chum for dinner, farting wars. Sounds like the trip of a lifetime. Can’t wait for the video. Post more pic’s, please. Oh yeah Sean, don’t forget to watch for wiener dogs while in Germany. Love you XOXO

  22. Christine - Jake's mom

Oh my God! Oh my God! Oh my God! JAKE!!! If you didn’t get your loving, patient, kind, supportive, wonderful cookie-making mom something from the BMW factory in Munich….well, I just don’t know what to say. My dream come true!! You got to see where God creates the Ultimate Driving Machine. So f’n LUCKY!

  23. Hi Matt,
    Wow
BMW factory, that must have been a blast, it is nice of you to remember buying gifts for mom and dad, boost your bargaining skills, I would have paid a dollar more though.
Have a great time we really miss you.
    Mom

  24. Christine - Jake's mom

What a wonderful message Harrison posted on the home page. I think all you guys are amazing young men and women and Cheryl is a MOST awesome role model. And Jake, it’s been my experience that most people love to comment on stuff they know nothing about and it is best to just look at them and smile sweetly as their ignorance can be so, so amusing. As you near Paris, Jake, remember this: Butter and sugar crepes! The butter melts with the sugar making it a warm carmely mix in a light delicate absolutely DELICIOUS treat!!

  25. Hi Joe, glad your all enjoying such a beautiful countries. Sorry to hear about all the hours on the bus. Hopefully this will inspire everyone to go to college & ultimately work at something they love! Don’t go crazy with the $. Keep track of what you spent. Have enjoyed reading all the comments. Miss you, love mom

  26. David,
Try to use your ATM/debit card again. The bank swears it will work! Let me know.
Don’t worry about gifts if you are running out of money…
Also, love the blogs and the great writing. What a treat to read everyday!
    Love, Mom

  27. christine israel

There are no words to express how happy it makes me to read all your postings. I smile at the obvious joy and excitement each of you is experiencing on this trip. I am truly overjoyed and full of gratitude that Jake could be part of it. I love you crazy kids.

  28. christine israel

OH! And Jake, TSSFG on the Swiss chocolate?? No s–t!! Bring big mama some!!!

  29. jakey! i love you!!!!!! dad and i got some “sick” presents fro you from new york! you will like them a lot. anyway i love youu! =-)

  31. Hi Matt,
    Hello Paris!
Let us all know about your trip to Paris, you are the first family member to go to Paris. I am hearing mixed reports about the city so let us hear your opinion have a great time.

  32. Hi Lily! And hello from Kayla, Biscuit and Dolly, too! I gave Biscuit and Dolly a bath today, and after I got done with Dolly and she was soaking wet, she went and rolled a million times in the sand area. She was completely caked with wet sand from thr tip of her nose to her tail. I was not pleased, and now, even tho I rewashed her, sand keeps coming to the surface. I think I’ll let her sleep on your bed now (ha ha). Glad you are in Paris! Have fun. Love, Mom

Jake: butter and sugar crepes…. TSSFG ‘nuf said!
I took Sam on a hike for about 7 rocky miles here near Gram’s house at 7:30 this morning before it got too hot. Once again we were slowed down a bit on our climb because EVERYONE we passed had to stop and tell me what a good looking dog he was and how they love his big head. There were no snakes but we had to run from a swarm of bees and when I let him off his leash he headed straight for a cactus…so back on the leash he went. It’s nearly 12 hours later and he is STILL wiped out. Tomorrow we’ll go on a 3-ish mile easier hike. He’s gona be all chilled out for you when you come home. The 2 of you can sleep for a couple days…I miss you. I can’t wait to see pictures. Remember, tomorrow is Good Friday. Maybe take a minute if you can to reflect what Christ gave us that day he gave up himself. And no meat. I know it will be tough, but try to observe the rite. I love you so, so very much. Have fun, be safe.

Jake, I don’t know if you’ll see this or not, I hope that you do. I love you and I am glad you are having a good time. Yesterday I padded your account w/another $50, today you are down to literally $45. I will not let you go dry, but please be wise.

I’m glad you got to experience Notre Dame on Good Friday. It must have been very moving to kiss the crown of thorns knowing what that crown represents.

Keep having fun. I enjoyed the pictures that were posted in the gallery on this blog. Hope you’re taking plenty of your own. I cannot wait to see.
